More on Prop. 77
According to the Oakland Tribune, a new UC Berkeley study says that Proposition 77—Arnold Schwarzenegger's redistricting initiative for California—would "create some closer races... but would not shift decisive power to the Republicans." It would also boost the number of competitive districts from 30 back up to 50. Well, that
sounds like it could alleviate my earlier fears that the initiative would corral Democratic voters into a handful of urban bantustans. So I'd like to read the study, but
oddly, "the release of the IGS redistricting study has been delayed, pending further research." Huh?
